I began my modelling adventures at around five years of age, when my parents gave me a Revell 1/72 Fokker Triplane to build, in the hopes of keeping me quiet for an afternoon. Fifteen minutes later, I proudly placed the drooping wreck on my shelf, and was instantly hooked.
During my childhood and teens, I mostly focussed on 1/72 scale aircraft, but dabbled in almost everything that came in the plastic kit format. After leaving the hobby behind in my late teens for all the usual reasons, I took it up again in my early twenties, this time migrating to 1/48 scale.
I had always been fascinated by 1/32 scale, seeing it as the pinnacle for aircraft models. I tried my hand at a few as a young lad, but it wasn’t until my late twenties that this came to be my default working scale for aircraft modelling. Eventually I became an administrator at the Large Scale Planes website and forums, as well as the owner of the Scale Model Paint Masks website. I’ve also had the privilege of having my work published in AIR Modeller.
I still dabble in other modelling scales and genres, but 1/32 scale aircraft modelling is where my heart is
I started KLP Publishing in 2017.
