(2 customer reviews)

$17.00

In this 292-page eBook, Gary Boxall builds, paints, and rigs the giant Wingnut Wings 1/32 Felixstowe F.2A to an award-winning standard. While Gary’s build focusses on the ‘early’ boxing of the kit, his methods are equally applicable to the ‘late’ version, including painting the interior, improving details, creating custom paint masks, making templates for the Aviattic fabric decals, and of course, rigging!

The book also includes a detailed look at the kit by Brett Green, and our usual Appendices covering available aftermarket and reference material.

Description

In this 292-page eBook, Gary Boxall builds, paints, and rigs the giant Wingnut Wings 1/32 Felixstowe F.2A to an award-winning standard. While Gary’s build focusses on the ‘early’ boxing of the kit, his methods are equally applicable to the ‘late’ version, and we’ve included a great many photos of Gary’s rigging process to assist in this difficult area—helpful for anyone building any aircraft that requires even a modicum of rigging!

Gary also describes how he painted the interior, modified parts to be more accurate or more detailed, cut custom masks for the eye-popping ‘swirl’ paint scheme, and made templates for the Aviattic fabric decals that cover the wings and tailplane. And much more!

The book also includes a detailed look at the kit by Brett Green, and our usual Appendices covering available aftermarket and reference material.

What Our Readers Say

“It’s a great book!”
Barry O’Shea, Canada

“…an excellent production and model.”
Mark Cambourn, Australia

What can I say, the book is magnificent! I returned to modelling just after WnW closed so thought I’d never have one of these models, but thanks to the final release earlier this year I managed to snag a few. That said, they are not cheap models and so a small investment to obtain such a detailed account by a professional and gifted modeller explaining how to put one together, tips and tricks etc, is like gold dust.

Having had the privilege of seeing this model in the flesh it’s great to be able to see how Gary achieved his goal of building this wonderful aircraft and to such a high standard. Of course the Wing Nut Wings kit is a great starting point but like all kits it can be improved and Gary shows us how to do that through the use of after market parts and decals and by the application of craftsmanship of the highest order. For anyone wanting to construct any WW1 plane this would be an excellent companion at the work bench. Each step is described in a series of annotated photo’s which show clearly how to achieve a construction or finishing technique to competition standard.

If you are planning to build the behemoth that is the Wingnut Wings F.2A Felixstowe, I would heartily encourage you to purchase this book by Gary Boxall, one of the finest model builders on the planet. Frankly, I believe it would be of great help to those building any WWI model. It is chock full of good advice and ideas, all presented in a logical and approachable manner. The text is concise and clear and all of Gary’s modelling techniques are displayed in excellent and copious photographs. If you are eager to get into this amazing model, you would be well advised to have this book at hand.
