Welcome to 2025!

I’d like to start this post by extending my warmest wishes to everyone on the arrival of the new year, and yet again thank you all for supporting KLP Publishing throughout 2024. Happy New Year!

The real business though, is to provide a loose preview of what’s in store from us over the next 12 months. I’m going to present things in no particular order, other than certainty of publication, and with the inevitable caveat that nothing here is set in stone. Our latest release, Building the Hasegawa Ki-61-I Tei Hien in 1/32 Scale, teetered on the brink of falling on either side of the date line, but we managed to just sneak it in as the last release for 2024. Phew!

Moving into 2025, we have a sequence of titles that represent the first four books we’ll publish in the year, with the exact order to be decided.

First cab off the rank is Gary Boxall‘s twin builds of the Wingnut Wings 1/32 Fokker D.VII kit:

As well as the main build featured on the cover, Gary also builds a post-war Dutch version using decals from Dutch Decals.

Next up is Geoff Coughlin‘s build of the Tamiya 1/48 F-4B kit:

Next, Chuck Sawyer returns with his build of the Tamiya 1/32 F-16:

And finally, Gary is back again with his build of the Tamiya 1/48 F-35B in a landing configuration:

So, that’s the first four builds of the year out of the way, but there will be much more than that! One that I’m quite excited about is Nat Wale Plaia’s build of the HK Models A-20G in 1/32 scale:

On top of that, there’s a massive Skyraider project from Bill Hollis, Jeremy Moore’s Special Hobby Yak-9T, and potentially a Border Lancaster. There are always projects in negotiation and development, so I’m sure this list will grow and change as the year progresses.

Merry Christmas!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of you who celebrate it, a safe and happy Christmas for 2024!

I also wanted to thank you all for the patronage and support you’ve shown myself and KLP Publishing this year. We released a record eight eBook titles this year, and it would have been nine were we not running behind with the new Ki-61 book!

In short, it really is the definitive modeller’s guide to the Ju 88 G-6.

“A Modeller’s Guide to the Ju 88 G-6” Reaches First Draft!

I’m pleased to report that all the basic layout work for our next title, A Modeller’s Guide to the Ju 88 G-6 Night Fighter by John McIllMurray, is now complete! The final proofing and editing phase should only take a few days, so the official release is imminent!

And for the curious, the final page count of the main volume is 1017. Yes, I said main volume. The book has now been split into 4 files: the 1017-page main volume, Appendix 1: Ju 88 G-6 Loss Record (25 pages), Appendix 2: Ju 88 G-6 Pilot Claims (31 pages), and Ju 88 G-6 Scale Plans, Drawings & Stencil Guides (79 pages). The 3 additional files required different formatting to the main document, necessitating the split. This allows all the material to be presented in an optimal fashion.

As I type this, our illustrious author John McIllMurray is experiencing a debilitating health issue, and is awaiting emergency surgery to fuse two vertebrae in his neck. Our collective best wishes go out to John for a successful outcome and a speedy recovery.

“A Modeller’s Guide to the Ju 88 G-6” Reaches 1000 Pages!

When I received all the material from John for his magnum opus on the Ju 88 G-6 night fighter, I knew it would be a massive undertaking, and the result would likely be our largest title ever. That milestone was reached back on August 28 when I finished page number 700. And so, 3 weeks on, and with the end in sight, I’m somewhat startled to reveal that the book has just breached the 1000-page mark.

As the screenshot suggests, I’m now working my way through the various appendices, and am hopeful about completing the process by the end of the week, with a tentative release by the end of next week—but no promises!

In the interests of providing them in the best possible format, the drawings, scale plans and stencil guides will be compiled into a separate document with a landscape orientation. This second document will of course be part of the book bundle, and be covered by the purchase price.
